We will be highlighting a volunteer of the season and congratulating them on their contributions and work well done. This also gives our membership a chance to “meet” these special people who help make the FFFH so successful. |

Fall 2003 - Larry Mullen Larry Mullen has been volunteering behind the scenes for a few years with the Friends of the Forestry Farm House. Larry is a long time member who is also a City of Saskatoon employee at the Forestry Farm Park. Larry has grown pumpkins for us for three years – turning a skill and a volunteer activity into a profit for us. Larry has also helped on numerous projects during the restoration. Larry, in his professional capacity, also ensures that our Forestry Farm Tea House is environmentally friendly. With his encouragement and expertise we have set up a compost situation where the “Zoo Poo” wins as does the Tea House. Larry oversees this process. Larry also enjoys spending his coffee breaks quietly enjoying the park from our patio. We thank him for his past and present support and hope that we can continue to work together for many more years. |

Spring 2003 - Hilda Voth Hilda Voth has been volunteering behind the scenes for many years with the Friends of the Forestry Farm House. Hilda is a quiet person but a powerhouse when it comes to getting things done. From work bees of hard physical labor to manning our bake sale table Hilda is always there for us. Hilda has many other interests such as birds and nature and we are pleased that she donates her time and energy towards our project. |

Winter 2002 - Claire Bullaro, Spencer Cruikshank Claire Bullaro Who looks after our complicated finances: who has helped scrape and paint our wood trim: who has kept a careful eye on our new plants: who will lead a walking tour at a moment's notice: who talks to the grounds people at the zoo: who will step in to phone our teahouse patrons when Bernie is away? Claire Bullaro, of course. Not only is she our treasurer- a very demanding job- she is also a volunteer who offers her time without hesitation for any of the myriad tasks, both large and small, which need to be done in connection with the Residence. She is a rock of support on whom the President and the Board can rely at all times. Claire has been fighting for the survival of the Superintendent's Residence since the days of the Task Force in 1992. Without that initial work, the house would not be here today. Although there have been some difficult times, she has never wavered in her dedication to the project. We have all benefited from her perseverance and determination. Thank you, Claire! Spencer Cruikshank The second volunteer of the season is Spencer Cruikshank. This young lad has been a long time volunteer out at the Superintendent’s Residence. He does not fit the usual criteria of our volunteers, as his age bracket is the teens. He commenced with the demolition phase (probably his favorite) and during that time he willing gave of his strength, endurance and ideas. He has continued to volunteer and indeed rarely says no when asked to give his time and energy towards this cause. |

Margo Rashley receives the award for the Fall 02 season. Her dedication to the many programs that we have run plus her hands on work at the house has been paramount to our success. Margo likes to stay in the background and let other people take the limelight but we think it is time that everyone knew what a dedicated, organized, highly energized person Margo is. Along with all that she has quite a sense of humor and as a retired schoolteacher she always makes sure that we cross our T’s and dot our I’s correctly! It has been a pleasure working with Margo since her arrival on the board in 1996 |
