Buildings
There were two distinct building periods during the course of the Sutherland Nursery Station's operations.
The 'first generation' structures were built at the outset between 1913 and 1916: the Superintendent's Residence, Packing Shed, Pump House, Stable, Foreman's House, Boarding House, and the Implement Shed. The Stable, Implement shed and Foreman's House have not survived. The surviving buildings of this generation of structures are in their original locations.
The key 'second generation' structures, built since 1949, included the Tree Storage Shed (now the Hall), the Horse Barn and the Header House with the attached Greenhouse. Of these, the Horse Barn has been moved to the zoo portion of the property.
